This one-hour micro-credential course offers a comprehensive introduction to the Goods and Services Tax (GST), designed for individuals seeking to grasp the foundational concepts of this significant tax reform. The course includes three videos, a reference reading material, and the assessment carried out through multiple choice questions. By enrolling in the course, the participants will explore the distinctions between direct and indirect tax structures and gain a detailed understanding of the varied aspects of GST that have transformed the Indian tax landscape. 

The objective of the course is to provide an understanding of the essential components of GST such as Input Tax Credit (ITC), the cascading effect of taxes, threshold limits for GST registration, annual aggregate turnover, and the reverse charge mechanism. Furthermore, participants will learn how to decide the place, time, and value of goods under GST. The course concludes with a short reference reading of material detailing exemptions under GST. This course is undertaken as a self-study project by students admitted to the MBA program of School of Business and Management. The project is carried out by the students for before joining the MBA program and is evaluated during Trimester 1.

The self-study project is to be undertaken in an organization meeting the following criteria:

  • Manufacturing-oriented organization
  • Minimum turnover of INR 100 crores
  • Minimum duration of the self-study project: Thirty (30) days

The course is offered as a mandatory core course in the first trimester. The course introduces students to a comprehensive set of concepts and theories about human behaviour in organizations; that have been developed over the years. The subject focuses on ways and means to improve productivity, minimize absenteeism, increase employee engagement and contributing to the overall effectiveness of organizations. The basic disciplines of the course are behavioural science, sociology, social psychology, anthropology and political science.

This course provides practical strategies and skills for planning, facilitating, and participating in productive meetings in the workplace. Participants will learn how to set clear objectives, create an agenda, manage time effectively, foster engagement, and follow up on action items to ensure that meetings are efficient and impactful.
